Fencing TV shows fencing competition results, and it also lets clubs run their training register, lets fencers hold an account, and lets a fencer or a parent message their club. Those mean the app does hold personal data. This page says exactly what, and why.

If you only watch fencing

You need no account. Competition results, rankings and club pages are public and are fetched without identifying you. What is still collected in this case is the analytics and crash reporting described below.

Analytics and crash reports

The app includes Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. They record how the app is used — screens opened, session length, app version, device model, operating system and a country derived from your network address — and, when the app crashes, what it was doing at the time. This is used to fix faults and decide what to build. It is not sold, and it is not used to identify you personally. Google processes it as our provider; see Google's own privacy terms.

We do not use advertising identifiers and the app shows no adverts.

If you have a fencer account

You sign in with Apple or with Google. We never see your password. We store:

Year of birth is used only to protect younger fencers: nobody under 18 is shown by name, photo or profile to other members or listed in the Community list, and a fencer who has stated a year of birth that makes them possibly under 13 cannot send messages (a parent can message the club instead). If you leave it blank we treat you as under 18 for everything that is shown to others, because that is the safer mistake. The year itself is never shown to anyone.

Your profile is not public unless you choose the Community list. Without it, your profile can be read by coaches of a club you attend, and by people registered for the same sparring session as you — and for a general class, other members see only a count, never names.

The Community list

The Community list is public, and joining it is your choice: it is off until you switch it on in your profile, and it is open only to fencers who have given a year of birth that makes them 18 or over. Anyone, including people without an account, can then see your display name, photo, weapons, years fencing, city, country, biography, the clubs you are a member of, and your FIE record if you linked one. Switch it off in your profile at any time and you leave the list at once. Somebody you block, or who blocks you, does not see you in it.

Messages with a club

A signed-in fencer, or a parent with a club account, can message a club. We store each message, who sent it and when, and whether it has been read.

If you belong to a club

Clubs use this app to keep a training register. A club holds its members' names and their attendance marks, and some of those members are children. That data belongs to the club: only that club's coaches can read it, no other club can, and it is never published. A parent sees only the children linked to their own account.

Club coach accounts store a display name, a username and a password hash.

A club may publish ways to contact it — a phone number, WhatsApp, Zalo, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram or an email address. These are typed in by the club's administrator, are the club's own details, and are shown publicly on the club's page.

Notifications

If you allow notifications we store a device token, the app version and the device's language (so a notification arrives in your language), and delete them when you sign out. Notifications are delivered by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple's push service. A notification about other people never names them — it says how many, not who — and a notification about a message never contains the message or the sender's name.

Deleting your account

You can delete a fencer account from inside the app, under Settings, or at fencingtv.com/delete-account. Deleting removes your account, your sign-in link to Apple or Google, your profile, your photo, your FIE link, your place in the Community list, your club memberships, the athletes you follow, your blocks, your notification devices and your conversations with clubs — your messages and the club's replies.

A parent can delete their club account in the app under Settings; that removes their sign-in and name and their conversation with the club.

It does not erase a club's own register. If a coach marked you present at a session, that record stays with the club, because it is the club's record of who trained — and it may concern a child whose parent did not ask for it to be deleted. Your registrations stay as a number and stop naming you. Signing in again gives you a new, empty account.

Where the data is

The service runs on Cloudflare, and data is stored in Cloudflare D1 and R2. Sign-in is verified against Apple and Google. Analytics and crash reports go to Google Firebase, and notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple. There are no other processors.
